Last semester there was a math problem that had been bugging me all day. I went to sleep that night and had a dream that I solved it. I looked at the problem again, and it became clear how to solve it. Our conscious mind limits itself to what "makes sense", in a very one-sided way.. For example, your mind gets used to doing something a certain way, that it overlooks other possibilities, or it works "backwards", like if you know what the solution is "supposed" to be, you try to get the problem to work out in that solutions favor. but subconsciously you are open to any and all possibilities, so you may actually dream up a solution!
