Introduction: 7 QC tools are the systematic tools used to understand and really know what your quality problems really are. These tools help problem solver solved the complicated as well as simple problems. These tools are scientific management tools, which are basic and easy to understand. They form the fundamental foundation for all problem solving and quality control activities. Ron described seven basic steps to problem solving. The "7 Basic QC Tools" are different. They are traditional industrial engineering tools. They include: 1. Cause-and-effect diagram ( Ishikawa or fishbone chart): This chart is useful in the Define, Analyze and Improve steps. It identifies many possible causes that might effect a problem. The fishbone is typically separated into categories like systems, people, machinery, methods, etc. to organize thinking. 2. Check sheet: A structured, prepared form for collecting and analyzing data; a generic tool that can be adapted for a wide variety of purposes..copies available via Google 3. Process Control charts: Basic statistical graphs used to study process variation over time. 4. Histogram or Bar Chart: A very simple and visual graph that shows frequency distributions, or how often each different value in a set of data occurs. 5. Pareto chart (80/20 Rule): A more sophisticated Bar chart which shows which factors are most significant. Then a few slightly more sophisticated statistical tools: 6. Scatter diagram: Graphs pairs of numerical data, one variable on each axis, used to look for a relationship. 7. Stratification: A technique that separates data gathered from a variety of sources so that patterns can be seen (some lists replace "stratification" with "flowchart" or "run chart").
