A great business solves customer problems; if your Summary cannot clearly describe, in one or two pages, how your business will solve a particular problem and make a profit, then it's very possible the opportunity does not exist--or your plan to take advantage of a genuine opportunity is not well developed.

As you develop your Summary you will naturally focus on the issues that contribute most to potential success. If your concept is too fuzzy, too broad, or too complicated, go back and start again. Most great businesses can be described in several sentences, not several pages.

If a person or persons prepares a very long report, executives will not read it because they don t have the time. Therefore an Executive Summary explains in a,paragraph or two, maybe three or four, the most important parts of the report so that the executive understands what was done and the outcome and conclusions. The Executive Summary is what the report is. If the report is a persuasive message, than the Executive Summary will be too, etc. If the repirt is an explanation of something, like what happens when you toss water on a fire and why, the executive summary will be the same, but in only a few paragraphs.
