Britain managed to build a huge empire during the Victorian period. It was also a time of tremendous change in the lives of British people. In 1837 most people lived in villages and worked on the land; by 1901, most lived in towns and worked in offices, shops and factories.
Every pupil is expected to lead their own learning and achievement, by demonstrating a personal motivation to be successful and a strong work ethic. We are focused on ensuring academic excellence for all our pupils, which will allow them to fully engage in Higher and Further Education. Woodlands School encourages all pupils to have high aspirations and they are appropriately guided towards a suitably challenging career pathway.
There is an extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities for all pupils to experience. Our programme provides an outstanding opportunity for each young person to enrich and extend their learning, whilst developing key social skills.
We have teaching and learning resources to help primary aged children. The links on the left are interactive science games and activities. The links below lead to pages with information and facts on to help with homework topics.

Woodlands Primary School was inspected by Ofsted on the 12th and 13th of March 2014. I am delighted to say that we were graded as a, “good school” and we were graded as consistently Good in all four categories – Achievement of pupils, Quality of teaching, Behaviour and safety of pupils and Leadership and management. We are particularly pleased with this result because the Ofsted Grading Criteria was made significantly tougher from January 2013 onwards.
I am very proud of our pupils who showed the inspectors that they always work hard, behave well and enjoy their learning.
