In working with marriages in distress I’ve discovered most men have injured the women in their life emotionally, at least at some level. To understand how this can happen one needs to first understand one of the ways men and women are usually different. Most men are predominantly thinking beings they receive and process experiences in life in a predominately rational and logical way. If someone says something which offends a man he will accept or dismiss it based on whether it is true.

Most women are different. Women are usually more in tune with their emotions. They are often more relationally aware. When life happens to them their dominant reaction is often to respond emotionally first. When someone hurts a woman’s feelings, for example, even though the information they receive may be false, it takes them longer to work through the feelings associated with the emotional injury.

A few years ago, I worked at a web design agency as a product manager. The part of the job I loved the most was working on product with our design team and clients. Unfortunately, this was only about 10 percent of the work that I actually got to do. The majority of the time, I was trying to control the constant flow of stuff–keeping track of meeting notes, searching for files, and trying to stay up-to-date with the latest technology news.

I was mentally exhausted. I’d get home feeling that I hadn’t really accomplished anything. Once I left the agency and started ooomf , I wanted to fix how I approached consumption in my life. Over the last few years, I’ve discovered ways to reduce the noise of stuff around me so I can focus on creation and have more time for the things that matter most. The last year has been the most productive of my life and I owe a lot of it to understanding the importance of decreasing how much I consume and coming up with ways to cut clutter.

Some of them weren’t that easy for her to wrap her head around at first and took a bit of courage and some gumption to finally try. Would you be willing to do all the things on this list if it could mean a drastic difference in your health? Even #7?!?!

Many of Jen’s tips are things I do myself to keep healthy however #7 is one that I’ve honestly hesitated to try. After this article I may just give it a go. You never know what will make a difference until you give it a try.

When talking to people about personal development, I come across tons of misconceptions. So let me clear up a major one right away.

Under s.94 of the Employment Rights Act 1996 (“ERA 96”) you have the right not to be unfairly dismissed from your employment (if you are an employee and have more than one year’s continuous service, which rose to 2 years if you commenced employment from 6 April 2012). If you are dismissed then under s.98 of the ERA 96 your employer must give a potentially fair reason for your dismissal, the reasons being:

Allegations of theft at work would fall under the potentially fair reason of conduct. Your employer will therefore normally be able to demonstrate that there was a potentially fair reason for your dismissal. However, your employer will also have to show that:

Those who are unstoppable are in their own world. They don''''t compete with anyone but themselves. You never know what they will do -- only that you will be forced to respond. Even though they don''''t compete with you, they make you compete with them.

Rather than analyzing and thinking, act. Attuned to your senses, and with complete trust in yourself, do what you instinctively feel you should. As Oprah Winfrey has said, " Every right decision I have ever made has come from my gut. Every wrong decision I''''ve made was the result of me not listening to the greater voice of myself."
