Successfully studying and reviewing for math classes or testing requires your dedicated work and practice, to achieve understanding. Calculators and shortcuts can help you, but only if you use them properly -- as when you are show your work in a certain way, as required, not just writing the answer.

I''''d like to thank Fred J., Mike K. and David A. for all the typos that they''''ve found and sent my way! I''''ve tried to proof read these pages and catch as many typos as I could, however it just isn''''t possible to catch all of them when you are also the person who wrote the material. Fred, Mike and David have caught quite a few typos that I''''d missed and been nice enough to send them my way. Thanks again Fred, Mike and David!

If you are one of my current students and are here looking for homework assignments I''''ve got a set of links that will get you to the right pages listed here.

Often, when it comes to math, some people struggle with the concepts, finding it too difficult. But follow these few steps and Math will be easy in every class.

To start, you need to use the trigonometric sum and difference formulas to break apart the sin(A+B) sin(A+B) = sin(A)*cos(B) + sin(B)*cos(A) using this, you know that [sin(A)*cos(B)] / [cos(A)*cos(B)] + [sin(B)*cos(A)] / [cos(A)*cos(B)] looking at it, you can see that some of the values cancel out sin(A) / cos(A) + sin(B) / cos(B) sin / cos = tan therefore, sin(A+B) / [cos(A)*cos(B)] = tan(A) + tan(B) hopefully this helps!

This is a second order , linear, ordinary Diff eq. You will need TWO substitutions u(x) and v(x) , and the reverse product rule and several lines of painful calculus/algebra, to eventually get : y(x) = (2/3)x^3 +c1/x + c2, and you cannot go much farther without some more initial conditions. The two tricky parts are the x in the first term, and the reverse product rule : divide both sides by "x" and use a u(x) = x^2, to get started. and eventually a v(x) as v(x) = [2x^4 +c1]/x^2 See here, and press " Show Steps" to see all the steps : http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=Solve+%3A+xy%27%27+%2B+2y%27+%3D+8x%5E2

Have you ever given up working on a math problem because you couldn’t figure out the next step? Wolfram|Alpha can guide you step by step through the process of solving many mathematical problems, from solving a simple quadratic equation to taking the integral of a complex function.

When trying to find the roots of 3 x 2 + x –7=4 x , Wolfram|Alpha can break down the steps for you if you click the “Show steps” button in the Result pod.
