What exactly is an accommodation plan for someone with learning disabilities, how are these helpful and when are they used? When does your child need an accommodation plan?

An accommodation plan is a written set of instructions that details specific strategies and practices that will be used to communicate to teachers what strategies and practices will be used to ensure that a student s learning needs are met.

The answer depends on the current state of your finances. In general, you should not start a business if you (1) cannot afford to lose the capital you would invest, and (2) do not have sufficient capital to last at least six months (if you keep taking losses). Most business owners will tell you it is safe to start a business only with sufficient capital to last one year. On average, SMEs (Small to Medium Enterprises) take 6 to 8 months to break even. Do not forget to calculate overheads such as marketing costs, rent, licensing, and the relevant insurances. Running your own business is extremely time consuming, and a two man operation means it will not be a 9 to 5 job. Most start-ups involve long hours, burnt weekends, and extremely high personal costs (as you will bear travel expenses, or the cost of entertaining clients). You must be certain that your studies and tuition fees will not be adversely affected. It is recommended that business owners do not enter into partnerships without a contract. I assume (as with most start-ups) that you will not bear the legal costs of drawing up a contract with your partner. If so, you must draft a written agreement regarding certain issues. For example, what happens if, after you ve invested the money, your partner wants to close the business and you don t? Who has the final say? Also, if you are starting this business with borrowed money (credit), what is the interest rate involved? How much are your stakeholders expecting you to pay them back, and by when? Can your business meet these obligations, and *still* provide income for you to live one? Again, written agreements are instrumental. These are some of the basic concerns you need to address. If you can come up with an answer to each of these, and still feel confident, then go ahead. But do not proceed if any of it leaves your doubtful or feeling insecure.

1. There s no way you can go to school on that ridiculously tiny budget. Plan to need at least C$2000 a month for living expenses in addition to all school tuition, fees, books & supplies, health insurance & additional financial requirements from the school. In high-cost cities such as Vancouver & Toronto, that s not enough! You will need lots of winter clothing to survive Canadian winters - being from Lebanon, you are completely clueless about cold weather & completely unprepared wardrobe-wise. Budget at least $2000 just for proper winter clothing. 2. Student visas are temporary NON-immigration visas, and a condition of issuance is that you return to your country of citizenship immediately upon completion or termination of studies. Intent to remain is actually visa fraud - and any visa fraud can get you deported & permanently barred. 3. Worldwide glut of MBAs, BBAs, etc, in finance & accounting. Not eligible for any employment visa in most countries. Canadians are, on average, the most highly educated people on the planet, and you think they are short of accountants & financiers? LOL! You will NOT remain in Canada. You must return to your country of citizenship, and you are not working abroad even if you get an MBA - not eligible for employment visas. 4. Room & board (accommodation) only covers school terms, not summer or other vacations.

This is the basics for most Guesthouse, Lodges, Game Lodges and B & B's etc in South Africa.

We are fortunate that our Government has established an Incentive Scheme in this regard.

Their Tourism Enterprise Program provides for the payment of a non-taxable, non-repayable Grant for a period of 3 years.

This Grant is equal to 10 % of your Investment per annum, and paid out every 6 months.

A great initiative !
